Possibly you’ve been cooped up all winter, or not. But as spring is about to come, you’re raring to go and use the metal detector for a new adventure. The problem is, spring often also means rain. What to do? No need to let go of a treasure-hunting trip. Whether you had something elaborately planned or simply thinking of combing the beach, rain need not prevent you.

First, it may be good to have a waterproof metal detector, or at least a water repellent rain cover; but in case you don’t have it or it’s far too late to buy or you’re simply not interested in shelling our money for it, there’s a quick fix. Plastic bags.  With a regular plastic zipper bag plus a couple of elastic band, you’re ready to go. You can even put a handful of these baggies within your vehicle for those sudden rain showers.

If you actually delight in slogging through rain soaked sand or earth, then going metal detecting while it is raining shouldn’t be a hardship for you. If not, you can always compensate by being properly outfitted. If a wetsuit isn’t called for or you just don’t like putting them on, you can opt for a rain suit. You are more likely to need a rain suit than merely just a rain jacket. Where a rain jacket will give protection to your top half, it’ll leave your pants exposed. For not too long, your pants will be easily soaked and may become heavy. A wide-brimmed hat or cap will be handy, it’ll keep the rain off of your face and eyes.

Unless you’re going out in torrential downpour, your regular headphones will do.  If you own a pair of waterproof ones, then that’s one less thing to take into account. Headphones are necessary for regular hunting trips but more so while it is raining. It can support you in having more focus and in blocking out the insistent fall of raindrops.

The rain will be your treasure-hunting ally in a number of ways: it releases the soil and moves deeply buried items around, possibly, closer to the surface; also, wet ground is more conducive and can lead your metal detector to further targets that you otherwise, might miss.

Going out to hunt in the rain could be fun and challenging at the same time, and it can result in a more successful hunting trip as well. Uncover more tips about the best metal detectors you may have by going to http://www.metal-detector-town.com/
