Krav Maga Martial Art - Quickly Learnt & Easily Applied
Krav Maga is quite a new fighting art that was pretty much created in the 1930’s. It quickly established itself as the chief fighting art of Israel! There are many aspects of Krav Maga that make it unique. Not least of which is that it is quick to learn and effective in application. You’ll be able to defend yourself in no time at all.
How is Krav Maga different from other martial arts
For a start, Krav Maga is not really a Martial Art in the pure sense, but is certainly a fighting art. And though the Martial Arts can be very effective fighting systems, it often takes a long time (over 6 months, sometimes much longer) to be a proficient fighter.
You have probably realized that most martial arts such as Karate teach form. These forms should be practiced until they become totally ingrained. At this point the martial artist may be able to defend themselves in a combat situation. Especially if the martial art is more realistically combat orientated.
The bottom line is that the forms themselves are not always very realistic from a fight perspective.
So this is where Krav Maga street fighting is different. Krav Maga does not require any forms to be learnt, just a series of practical techniques. It is about learning basic techniques – punching, kicking, how to throw and grapple etc, etc – and applying them one-on-one basis with a practice partner.
Because of this you could say that Krav Maga is closer to Jiu Jitsu than it is t Karate. In fact Krava Maga has often been called the Israeli Jiu Jitsu or just Krav Maga Ju Jitsu
When this Krav Maga was first devised, it was designed to be taught quickly because those doing the teaching and those who needed the training had very little time to learn! There are many ways to learn the art. In fact I have studied from krav maga training videos and other people that I know learnt from a krav maga book. Essentially, so long as you have a practice partner then you should have no problem learning this modern and effective fighting system.
Because Krav Maga was designed in this very efficient way, it can readily be grasped swiftly. And in this day that is incredibly valuable..
