Despite investigations showing that steroids are incredibly pervasive in major league baseball, to the extent that it is discussed casually and drugs are used openly, the powerful Major League Baseball Players Association has increased initiatives to ban steroid-users among baseball players for years. Some of the greatest baseball stars in the past 20 years have been named as steroid-users.

This has resulted in a backlash by those trying to preserve the integrity and sportsmanship of Major League Baseball. Former U.S. Senator George Mitchell called steroid-using baseball stars “drug cheats” and recommended more stringent testing for performance-enhancing drugs. He noted that steroid use “exposed players to serious health risks and threatened to corrupt the integrity of baseball itself”.

A batting stance is really just a natural stance that hitters get into because it feels comfortable to them. Comfort is extremely important, because if you’re not comfortable, then you will NOT produce for your team! Everybody stands in the batter’s box however they want to. But when they go to hit a baseball, everything comes together to strike the ball in the CORRECT manner. So don’t let anyone try to tell you that your batting stance is not conducive to hitting a baseball for power, because that’s just FALSE information! Let me give you some examples so you can understand it all a little better.

Despite the fact that Mark McGwire was on the last two Hall of Fame ballots, a decision has already been made to keep him out, most likely because of his record of steroid abuse.

Choosing the wrong summer team. Playing in summer leagues has almost become a necessity. College coaches are not able to recruit during the season because they overlap. The summer is the main recruiting season for baseball. Don’t choose a league with you friends, choose a team that will maximize your exposure.

By going easy on those who break the rules, are we telling newer players that it’s ok to go ahead and do it too, just as long as they hit those home runs and break those records? And what does that tell the real, all-natural baseball players, the ones who’ve done it the hard way? That hard work and integrity don’t pay, because records are all that matter?

Perhaps baseball players guilty of steroid use should be allowed in, but put in a special section called the “Hall of Shame”, reserved for those who break the rules. Future baseball players and fans can then look at their names and titter, knowing that their stunning records were achieved by less-than-kosher means and have nothing to do with their real abilities or peak for
