Distance In Dating Does Not Make It Totally Safe
Living in the real world can be difficult sometimes. Sometimes you feel you do not have enough companions and that is the time people look for friends online. This is why the entire concept of online dating works so well. But there are some pitfalls surely! For one, online dating is not as private as you think it might be. When you sign up on these sites, you are asked for some information about yourself. A lot of this information is visible to other people on your profile page. This can expose your identity. Of course, you can choose to keep some of these fields empty, but what about the sites that are adamant about filling all fields?
However safe you may think you are, just because you are using the free online dating website, there are those who know your personal information, and usually a disclaimer is attached, or the free online dating website informs you that no other additional information required will be given out to strangers. Unfortunately this information that you fill out on the registration form will over a year or two be sold off to people who are looking for addresses and contact details to forward usually junk mail to or for other solicitation purposes. The free online dating website would usually be offered a substantial fee for their old database records, to do this.
Information Eventually Sold Off
It is true then that your identity is never safe when you are on an online dating website. If you have to put your name, address and phone number, then you are not safe, even if the site says that they will not reveal these things to anyone else. This is not specific to online dating websites either. It is best that you don’t put this information anywhere on the Internet. Specifically, you should not mention your contact phone numbers and your address.
However some application forms over the Internet insist that some fields to be filled in are compulsory. When you are feeling that you don’t want to fill these compulsory fields in, especially with a free online dating website, rather do not even bother filling the forms in. Your safety will still always be at risk.
However, not every free online dating website is as bad as it sounds, some have other functions and facilities and other required links to it such as a free online dating personals service. This would be a section possibly where jobs are advertised, goods and services are sold, offered, swapped or required for using the original website. Unfortunately, this does not seem like quite a safe service to offer on an online dating website, due to your information still being available.
